Thrift Store Christmas Decor {Re-Vamped}

One of my favorite things to do is find things I can ‘make my own’. I’ve found several things this year I knew I could update. The thrill of finding it for a good price is almost as exciting as the seeing the finished project.

Today I’m sharing several of my thrifted Christmas decor items that I gave a new look.

{Christmas Art}

I found this print for $3 and just knew it had potential. It took me about an hour to give it the makeover it needed. The edges were worn in a few spots so, I distressed the edges of the entire print and added some dark wax (to make it look like it was supposed to be that way…lol). Next, using acrylic paints and a small brush I went over the main parts of the print with new paint: the berries, the pot and the garland. Last, using a paint brush I added Mod Podge to the garland and sprinkled glitter on it to give it more Christmas flair.

{Stocking Hangers}

I found these stocking hangers for $1.99 each and knew they had potential. Being I’m going with a lot of white and silver these year, all I had to do was update the red.

Before Stocking Hangers

 I simply taped off the silver pot (my favorite part), primed them with Kilz spray primer, spray painted them white using Rust-Oleum Blossom White, and added some glitter.

After Stocking Hanger

I used them to hang garland on the top of my kitchen hutch.

{Reindeer Art}

I found these reindeer plaques and thought they were cute other than the color. Again, my beloved spray paint came to the rescue! After priming, painting and adding glitter they were beautiful.

I wanted to add a way to hang them, so using 2 old frames I had on hand, I covered the backs with burlap, painted them red and glued the plaques on.

{Glass Glitter Tree}

Goodwill has these glass Christmas tree’s all the time. I figured there had to be a cute way too use them; I figured for $1 I could give it a try. I painted the glass with Mod Podge and then covered it in glitter. In order to add height I set it on a silver candlestick I already had.

I needed a little something for this spot on my kitchen buffet and it was perfect (especially for $1)!

Thrift Store Accents

I spent around $15 for everything I thrifted and revamped in this post - pretty cool! I wish I could buy everything at HomeGoods, but since I can’t this is a great way to get what I want at the price I need.

Love you more than saving money before Christmas,

Sunday
